Warehouse Shelving in Las Vegas

Not everything belongs on a pallet rack. Industrial shelving for parts storage, pick-and-pack, and everything that needs to be organized but does not need a forklift.

Pallet racks are built for palletized loads handled by forklifts. But not everything in a warehouse sits on a pallet. Parts, small cartons, tools, supplies, pick-and-pack inventory, and maintenance items all need organized, accessible storage. That is where industrial shelving comes in. Source 4 Industries supplies and installs shelving systems for warehouses, distribution centers, and commercial operations across Las Vegas.

Types of Industrial Shelving

Boltless shelving (also called rivet shelving) is the workhorse of warehouse shelving. It assembles without tools using a post-and-clip system, adjusts easily, and handles loads from 300 to 1,000 pounds per shelf depending on the model. It is the most popular choice for general warehouse storage of cartons, parts bins, and supplies.

Wire shelving is the go-to choice for food service, pharmaceutical, and clean-room applications. The open wire design allows air circulation, light penetration, and visibility. Wire shelving is NSF-rated for food contact environments and is easy to clean.

Heavy-duty industrial shelving bridges the gap between standard shelving and pallet racking. These units handle heavier loads (1,000 to 3,000 pounds per shelf) and are used for storing dies, molds, heavy parts, and equipment. They are typically constructed from heavier-gauge steel with bolted connections.

Clip shelving (also called steel shelving) is a traditional closed-shelf design commonly used in stockrooms, parts departments, and file storage. The solid steel shelves prevent small items from falling through and provide a smooth surface for sliding items on and off.

Shelving vs. Pallet Racking

The deciding factor is how you handle the product. If a forklift places and retrieves pallets, you need pallet rack. If people pick and place items by hand, you need shelving. Many warehouses use both: pallet racks for bulk palletized storage and shelving for case picks, parts inventory, and supplies.

Shelving is also the right choice for operations where the items are too small, too light, or too irregularly shaped for pallet storage. Automotive parts distributors, electrical supply houses, and e-commerce fulfillment centers are classic examples of businesses that rely heavily on shelving.

Planning Your Shelving Layout

A good shelving layout considers the workflow, not just the floor space. Items picked frequently should be in the most accessible locations (waist height, near the packing area). Heavier items go on lower shelves. The aisle width needs to accommodate the traffic pattern, whether that is a single person with a pick cart or two people passing each other.

We help you plan a layout that makes sense for your operation. This is not about cramming as many shelves as possible into a space. It is about building a system that makes your people faster and reduces picking errors.

Delivery and Installation

We deliver shelving throughout the Las Vegas metro area. If you want it set up and ready to use, our crew assembles and installs shelving on-site. For large-scale shelving installations (100+ units), we plan the layout, stage the materials, and get everything built and leveled efficiently. You do not need permits for standard shelving under 8 feet, so there is no engineering or permit lead time to deal with.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between shelving and pallet racking?
Pallet racking is designed for palletized loads placed and retrieved by forklifts. Shelving is designed for items placed and picked by hand. If you are handling individual cases, parts, or cartons, shelving is the right choice.
Does warehouse shelving need a permit?
Standard shelving under 8 feet tall typically does not require a building permit. Taller shelving systems may require permits depending on the jurisdiction. We can advise on requirements for your specific situation.
How much weight can industrial shelving hold?
It depends on the type. Boltless shelving handles 300 to 1,000 pounds per shelf. Wire shelving supports 400 to 800 pounds per shelf. Heavy-duty industrial shelving can handle 1,000 to 3,000 pounds per shelf. We match the shelving capacity to your storage needs.
Can you supply shelving for a clean room or food service operation?
Yes. We stock NSF-rated wire shelving suitable for food service, pharmaceutical, and clean-room applications. These units are easy to clean and allow proper air circulation.
