Selective Pallet Rack

The most common warehouse rack system in the world. Every pallet is directly accessible. Simple, cost-effective, and compatible with any forklift.

Nevada Licensed Contractor #0039091

Selective pallet racking is the most widely used warehouse storage system in the world, and for good reason. Every pallet position is directly accessible from the aisle, which means no shuffling, no waiting, and no wasted time. If your warehouse stores a wide variety of SKUs and your team needs to pick individual pallets quickly, selective rack is the right starting point.

How Selective Pallet Rack Works

Selective racking uses upright frames connected by horizontal load beams to create individual pallet positions. Each position faces an aisle, giving your forklift operator a clear path to every single pallet in the system. No moving other pallets out of the way. No special equipment required.

The system comes in two main configurations. Single-deep selective rack places one pallet per position along each side of the aisle. Double-deep selective rack places two pallets back-to-back, which reduces aisle space but requires a reach truck or double-deep forklift to access the rear pallet.

Beam levels are adjustable, so you can reconfigure shelf heights as your product mix changes. This flexibility is one of the main reasons selective rack remains the default choice for warehouses that handle diverse inventory.

Benefits of Selective Pallet Rack

100% Selectivity

Every pallet is directly accessible from the aisle. No need to move other pallets to reach the one you need.

Low Cost Per Position

Selective rack is the most affordable pallet storage system per position, making it the best value for general warehousing.

Compatible With Any Forklift

Standard sit-down counterbalanced forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers all work with selective rack. No specialty equipment needed.

Easy to Reconfigure

Beam levels adjust in 2-inch increments. When your product mix changes, you adjust the rack instead of replacing it.

Simple Inventory Management

Direct access to every position makes cycle counting faster and FIFO/LIFO rotation straightforward to manage.

Best Use Cases for Selective Rack

  • Warehouses with a high number of different SKUs
  • Operations requiring frequent individual pallet picks
  • Distribution centers with mixed product sizes and weights
  • Facilities that need FIFO or LIFO inventory rotation
  • Companies getting started with organized pallet storage for the first time
  • Cold storage facilities where every pallet needs quick access

Which Rack System Is Right for You?

Selective rack gives you the best access to every pallet but uses more floor space for aisles than high-density systems. If you store large quantities of the same SKU and do not need to access every pallet individually, drive-in or push-back rack may be a better fit. Not sure which is right for your warehouse? We will help you figure it out.
